We believe all dogs deserve the absolute best possible life. It is our priority that we are responsible breeders, who breed to demand. We love all of our Labradoodles and without the help our sensational guardian families, our ethical breeding model would not be possible. Occasionally, we select a very special puppy to live in a guardian home where they will receive the time, individual attention, adventures and love they deserve.
If you are interested in our Guardianship Programme, please complete our guardianship application form at the bottom of this page and/or contact us on 0455 282 657 or cypresslabradoodles@gmail.com
Why are we extremely passionate about the Guardian Programme?
- Our understanding and commitment to the guardian programme is unique because we have personal experience. Our personal experience as guardians has taught us that guardianship is pinnacle to ethical and responsible breeding. Every dog receives their own loving forever home, where they are showered with affection and their health needs are prioritised. The guardian programme eradicates the place for puppy farms, where dogs never experience being a pet, are discarded once their breeding career has ended and often live in terrible and traumatic conditions.
- Having worked in a high kill rate animal shelter for 3 years. As well as being a foster carer for dogs and cats for over a decade. It would be an understatement to say that I am enormously passionate about accountable, ethical breeding and responsible dog ownership.
Is the programme right for me?
- It is crucial that our guardian family strongly believes in the guardian programme as a way to ethically breed puppies and this being the reason they are applying. We would otherwise strongly suggest that a pet puppy is more suitable and we are passionate about educating and helping all families find the right dog for them, wether that is a puppy from us, a rescue dog or a pup from another ethical breeder.
- A female would return to us a maximum of 2 times to whelp a litter.
- We arrange complimentary pet minding service to our guardian, so you have total peace of mind knowing your dog will receive outstanding care for your dog when you are on holiday.
- We would encourage the guardian family to visit or video call during the time frame that their guardian returns to us, because being a part of the puppy’s lives is an extremely special and exciting experience.
- When choosing a breeding prospect, we select the dog we believe has the perfect temperament, health and conformation. Therefore, you are receiving our pick of the litter.
- We cover the cost of puppy training, council registration, offer complimentary pet sitting and cover all associated breeding costs
- The guardian family is the dogs forever family, and will provide full care of the puppy as it grows and develops. As well as cover general pet costs, such as food, grooming, and standard health care/maintenance.
- The guardian family must be located within Victoria, preferably to live within 1.5 hours of the SE suburbs (we are located near Oakleigh).
What care will the guardian dog require?
- A guardian dog requires much the same care as a regular puppy.
- A female would return to us a maximum of 2 times to whelp a litter.
- Your guardian dog would return to us a week during her heat season, for the specialist reproduction team to appropriately and safely assess her fertility.
- The female would then return to her guardian family for all but the final week of the her 9-week pregnancy (in this last week it is crucial that we take the guardian dog to our specialist reproduction vet for an ultrasound, x-ray and to obtain the correct medication and food for her whelping period).
- From her final week of gestation, the guardian dog would be returned to Cypress Labradoodles to whelp and care for her litter. This is so we can provide gold standard care during her labour and for the while she is caring for her puppies.
- We would encourage the guardian family to visit during this time, as being a part of the puppies lives is an extremely special and exciting experience and we want your guardian dog to have the comfort of her loving family present.
