Upon adoption of your labradoodle, we will provide you with comprehensive puppy notes on grooming, feeding, health checks, obedience & toilet training.
Of course we offer ongoing support, this is our commitment to you, as we welcome you to the Cypress Labradoodle family.

Please find below recommended items to purchase for your Australian Labradoodle puppy:

All Cypress Labradoodles families have access to Amys Puppy Preschool. We require course completion prior to puppies heading to their forever home. We give ongoing support through our litter WhatsApp group and include a puppy training ebook in our puppy packs.
Labradoodle puppies are incredibly intelligent dogs and with a few simple strategies, training can be very simple. We recommend puppy school commencing at 10-12 weeks of age as this is an essential time for socialisation and from about 5 months of age formal obedience training is advised. We will support and connect you with the reputable trainers in your area via our litterWhatsApp group.
We look for people who can commit to spending quality time with their dog, including training, grooming and exercise. If you do not have the time for this, then an Australian Labradoodle is not the dog for you.
Grooming
Upon adoption of your labradoodle, we will provide you with a demonstration of how to brush your puppy's coat and trim their nails. Your puppy is already accustomed to being washed, brushed and blow dried and having their nail trimmed by us. Please continue to make grooming a positive and regular experience by initially completing short 5 minute sessions on a safe, non slip surface of brush, reward, brush, reward.
Puppys First Hair Cut
We recommend puppy trims initially & a full clip around 6-8 months of age, as this is when their adult coat begins to grow in.
Grooming Frequency
We recommend brushing your dog 2-3 times every week but at least once a week. Brush the coat from the skin outwards using a slicker brush, or as the hair gets longer, a wide-toothed comb. Areas more prone to matting are the ears, jaw, and collar as well as behind the tops of their legs.
Bathing
We recommend limiting bathing to monthly or every 6 weeks. Over bathing can irritate skin, dry out their coat and dry completely to prevent moist areas that can lead to hot spots/skin irritations.
Ear Care
Floppy-eared dogs such as Labradoodles don’t get too much air circulation in and around their ears and this can lead to problems such as yeast or bacterial infections. Check your dog’s ears regularly for odour, irritation and matting, keep hair length short approx 1cm below the ear leather to help air flow.

We provide comprehensive notes & a sample menu in our Puppy Packs. At Cypress Labradoodles we take nutrition seriously, whilst using premium grade foods can be a little more expensive, we believe a healthier dog will cost less longterm.

Good news! We have already begun ‘toilet training’ at 3 weeks! Labradoodles are intelligent dogs & by 8 weeks all of our puppies are independently navigating the doggy door and having minimal accidents.
Setting your pup up for success at home:
The trick once you get home is consistency & limiting the area your dog has access to! Bringing your pup home is probably the biggest day in their lives: new family, new place its all very exciting & a lot for them to take in. We will provide you with resources on toilet training in your puppy pack.

Socialisation between 8-12 weeks is key to a puppy’s development. Due to the pup not being vaccinated fully at this age, ensure you carry you pup in to puppy school, during this time as diseases like Parvo can live in the ground for a decade. After the 2nd vaccine some vets allow short walks on pavement. It is crucial that socialisation remains a positive experience & age appropriate. We provide all our owners with a socialisation checklist to guide exposure as well as what type of exercise is appropriate for their age.
